"I started taking classes with Actors Info Booth in 2005, having only some stage and comedy experience and absolutely no experience in front of the camera.  When my first instructor asked us to raise our hand if we were actors, I refused.  I didn't perceive myself as anything but an amateur comedy improv person.  And when I heard 10 people say they were planning to move to LA and hit the big time, I would roll my eyes.

For three years, I took nearly a dozen introductory classes as well as classes offered by guests from Los Angeles.  I absolutely benefited from each and every class I took in too many ways to list.  But I'll try!  First, the classes are a totally safe place to practice working in front of a camera.  We would watch ourselves and each other and were given tapes/dvds to take home. Pretty soon, I developed not only comfort in front of a camera, but a strong sense of what works and doesn't work for me (I don't just mean my "good side" and that I'm a "winter" in camera clothing, but that too.  I mean, what kind of energy and connection I need to bring to break through.)   All of the instructors, including Lisa and Laura, offer strong techniques with regard to eye-line, framing, slating, etc. but at the same time encourage individual artistry and persona.  And the Los Angeles teachers not only offer more specific and concrete industry know-how, but broaden your horizons about entertainment beyond South Florida, which is very limited in what it regards as marketable.  When agents in South Florida would tell me that I wasn't "glamorous" enough in my head shots, the Los Angeles teachers would tell me they were too airbrushed and that my eyes didn't say anything.

And then there's Lisa and Laura - who have always gone out of their way to help people, beyond the job requirements, and have a passion for entertainment, scripts, performing, producing, and bringing out the individual best in everyone and figuring out each student's true path.  For instance, I was starting to get cast, after two years with AIB, in dramatic stage and film roles.  But Lisa and Laura knew that I was a comedienne, and kept hinting in my ear that I needed to direct my energy better.   They built a community of true artists in South Florida.  And became great friends to me and many others.  I should also mention that they are really smart and, again, think beyond the limitations inscribed by the entertainment community in South Florida.

I cannot underestimate the impact of Actors Info Booth on my life.  I knew I had potential and comedic instincts but the classes and instructors at AIB pushed me into a whole career that brought me film and stage roles in South Florida and a move to Los Angeles, where I have had writing projects that have won awards and fellowships, producing stage shows, and casting in comedy web series and VO animation projects, and so much more."

Now when people ask if I'm an actor, I can point to my resume and raise my hand.  And then tell them, "And an award-winning writer and producer."
