Actor Tool - Google Alerts
Dear Actors,
I absolutely love that Bonnie Gillespie - look how she responded and gave us so much information.
I hope many of you were able to get to her showcase this week it was spectacular. I admire the actors who put their talent on the line for all to see. She produces the event so well. Auditions will be taking place for the July event you can find info about it on the cricketfeet showcase site.

Great reminder, Judy. I actually put together Google Alerts for every
project I cast, so if anyone ever writes about submitting on, auditioning
for, or–after the film shoots–seeing the film at a festival or on video, I
can read about their experiences. :) Especially with indie films (where
filmmakers may forget to notify their cast and crew about festivals or
screenings), I’ve found these Google Alerts to be very helpful. :) They keep me in the loop. ;)
As a writer, I also have Google Alerts set up for key terms I’ve used in my columns or books (like “Actor Mind Taffy” and “The Power of EH") because often actors will write about having read my books or columns, but not mention me by name. And I always like to know who is reading stuff I’ve written and what impact it might have. :)
I love the Google Alerts. I used to use RSI Copyright Services and a
now-defunct “clippings” service that did regular searches of publications for my name, but this is “meta-searching” going on, and it’s all automated.
Of course, some folks disable searchability for their websites and blogs, so Google *can’t* easily find the terms, but even so, Google Alerts catches the majority of it. The rest, you can usually find by doing an old fashioned search of the Internet Archive, which I try to do every few months (more for copyright purposes, than vanity or ego). ;)
Anyway, especially for actors who love to know what their reviews might have been in any performance, setting up a Google Alert is easy and free and essential. :)
