November 10, 2007 - Newsletter
Hello Friends!!
Wow - what a week. The writers strike is in full swing. The show runners and actors are getting on the picket lines. The directors guild (WGA) and the screen actors guild (SAG) come up for negotiations next year. The out come of the strike will have a definite impact on negotiations for the actors next year. Stay tuned to the trades for the news that impacts your career.
New developments for Financial Core actors. We picked up some info that SAG just passed a new rule that if you are Fi-Core, you can no longer return to full union status. They are tightening things up in an effort to strengthen the union. I know Fi-Core applies to many Florida actors. Not sure if there is a window of time before this takes effect. Call the local SAG office to confirm what options you have.
Ray Forchion is here in December! He just left Florida after wrapping some work on HBO’s “Recount". A couple things to remember about the weekend: 1) this is a RETREAT - don’t plan anything else if you are taking the weekend. 2) You must take the intensive before you can take the on-camera. 3) Limited to 14 actors. Only 2 spots left in the intensive, then we start the waiting list!
Have a great week!!!

Raymond Forchion Intensive Retreat
Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2, 2007
Please note: You will spend almost 40 hours in this workshop over the 3-day weekend. The estimated schedule is:
Friday - 7pm - 1am
Saturday - 10am - 1am
Sunday - 10am - 1am **Ray will set the specific hours**
You will feel energized like never before, so be ready to devote the entire weekend to exploring your craft. Please do not consider this workshop if you can not commit. You will have scenes with other actors. You owe it to them and quite frankly - you owe it to yourself to be fully present and in the moment!
Raymond Forchion, Award winning actor, writer, producer and director, headed the Screen Actors Guild LA Casting Committee for six years. He has done several pilots and TV movies, and he has co-starred on such series as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Golden Girls, Will and Grace, Wiseguy, In the Heat of The Night, and had recurring roles on General Hospital, and Miami Vice. He has starred on stage and in almost 100 commercials. With several screenplays under his belt, Raymond is a produced writer, and associate produced the Oscar nominated Last Breeze of Summer. Raymond has given his exciting Motivational Acting Seminars around the country and has coached working actors for over fifteen years.
Philosophy:
Mr. Forchion believes the secret of acting is that there is no secret. The craft of acting must be de-mystified and made more practical and immediate. Acting is a state of being and action, not of introspection and self indulgence. No Mumbo Jumbo! Raymond gets the performer out of his own head and allows him to be presented to the marketplace. Raymond’s philosophy is that an actor has to keep active and visible. Actors also need to be nurtured. The business beats us up enough. The greatest actor in the world if he or she is unseen, is often considered bad as the worst.
SEMINAR OBJECTIVES
OBJECTIVE A: To increase the actor’s confidence and ability to take more risks in the work.
OBJECTIVE B: To sharpen the actor’s ability to analyze the script quickly and create a believable character.
OBJECTIVE C: To explore the differences between stage and film technique in acting and auditioning.
OBJECTIVE D: To stimulate and instill new fire and passion and performance power in the more experienced actor.
OBJECTIVE E: To aid the performer’ s career development.
OBJECTIVE F: To familiarize Commercial talent, Models, Stage and newer actors with practical techniques and cold reading skills that will make them more employable.
*The Intensive is a prerequisite to the On-Camera*
$350.00 - LIMITED to 14 students. Call Lisa or Laura @ 954.731.4888 to sign up!!!
Raymond Forchion - On-Camera
December 7-9, 2007
Friday: 7pm to 1am
Saturday & Sunday: 10am to 1pm
**You must take the INTENSIVE BEFORE you can take the On-Camera**
Please note the hours on this workshop are very long and scheduled as the workshop proceeds – often running from 7pm until 1am or later on Friday and 10am-1am Sat & Sun. Although you will feel energized like never before, you must be willing to devote the entire weekend to learning your craft.
If you have taken Raymond’s 3-Day intensive – its time to take it to the next level!!!! Workout and see what you are really doing and how you are perceived on camera. Raymond’s expertise will help you to find the performance in you that will set you apart from the competition! This retreat is all on-camera. You take away the tapes at the end of the weekend, along with your feedback - an arsenal of info that allows you to study your work and hone your craft. $375.00 - **LIMITED to 14 actors** – Call Lisa or Laura @ 954.731.4888 to sign up
